Head of QA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• You will take charge of the quality strategy, release readiness, and delivery outcomes for our Manual QA and Test Automation teams, which consist of 16 direct reports.

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing QA organization through effective hiring, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career advancement.

• Define and implement Bragi’s QA and Test Automation strategy across embedded firmware, mobile applications, and cloud services.

• Foster an automation-first culture by increasing automated test coverage, enhancing framework reliability, and consistently minimizing manual testing efforts.

• Establish quality KPIs, such as automation coverage, defect leakage, release stability, and testing efficiency, to drive ongoing improvements.

• Create scalable QA processes, testing standards, documentation, tooling, and best practices across various engineering teams.

• Provide technical leadership on intricate validation challenges, including firmware validation, HW/SW integration, Bluetooth interoperability, firmware-app integration, AI feature validation, and lab/devboard environments.

• Ensure quality gates are established throughout CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated validation into every software release.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and external partners to embed quality into every phase of product development.

• Guide the advancement of our test infrastructure, automation frameworks, and validation environments to enhance developer productivity and release confidence.

• Represent quality engineering in customer discussions, audits, and executive stakeholder reviews as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software QA, including at least 3 years in leadership roles overseeing QA organizations with a minimum of 5 direct reports.

• Extensive hands-on experience in testing embedded firmware and mobile applications, specifically in firmware validation and system integration testing.

• Proven track record in defining company-wide QA strategies, validation plans, and release quality processes.

• Demonstrated success in building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing QA and Test Automation teams.

• Deep expertise in designing and maintaining scalable automation frameworks using PyTest, Appium, or similar automation technologies.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and contemporary software delivery practices.

• Experience in integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and implementing quality gates for continuous delivery.

• Proficient in API testing, system integration testing, and end-to-end validation workflows.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence engineering decisions across diverse teams.

• Familiarity with AI engineering practices, including validation of AI-powered features, LLM-based systems, and AI-assisted software development workflows.

• Understanding of agentic AI frameworks and knowledge of testing strategies for autonomous and multi-agent systems.

• Experience with Bluetooth, audio, multimedia, or wearable device validation is a plus.

• Experience in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing or automated hardware validation.

• Experience in introducing AI-assisted test generation, autonomous testing, or intelligent QA tooling.
