Head of News & Politics Partnerships

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Expand and oversee the News & Politics category on Substack.

• Attract industry leaders from the news and politics sectors to join Substack.

• Assist creators in monetizing their work and fostering community while broadening the market.

• Manage strategy, budget, external relationships, goal achievement, and team leadership for the market.

• Recruit and provide guidance to top talent within the news and politics creator economy.

• Create strategic initiatives to engage creators, attract new users to Substack, and support existing creators.

• Develop and implement best practices for social media strategy, audience engagement, and digital content creation.

• Collaborate with communications, product, and data teams to pinpoint promising political creator segments and enhance the creator experience.

• Improve outreach strategies in politics and streamline processes for creator onboarding and support.

• Assist with event planning, branding, and marketing efforts.

• Promote Substack as a platform enabling creators to connect directly with their fans and establish media enterprises.

• Work collaboratively with communications, product, business operations, and leadership teams.

• Travel for team-building activities and strategic meetings.

• Report directly to the Head of Partnerships.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in news, publishing, or politics.

• Outstanding written, verbal, and diplomatic communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

• A robust network of connections in the industry.

• Proven experience in managing a team.

• Proficient in working with data to assess impact and enhance program effectiveness.

• An avid reader and subscriber to Substacks, with a strong awareness of the changing tech and media landscape.

• The ability to work efficiently and effectively while juggling multiple projects under tight deadlines.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working closely with creators.

• Must be based in the United States.
