This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Offer guidance and consultation to support the positive associate relations strategy within the Bon Secours Mercy Health Toledo market.
• Examine complex and/or high-risk associate relations issues.
• Develop investigation plans, collect facts, interview witnesses, review similar cases, and decide on appropriate actions.
• Address complex and emotionally charged issues with objectivity and impartiality.
• Oversee disciplinary actions and termination disputes through grievance procedures and the administration of Ministry policies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders while ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive matters.
• Suggest policy modifications and enhancements to ineffective internal processes.
• Draft comprehensive responses and exhibits for the EEOC or state equal employment opportunity commissions.
• Assist with labor relations tasks, including grievance responses, arbitration, collective bargaining, and labor-management meetings.
• Counsel managers on diagnosing and resolving issues through questioning, risk assessment, HR expertise, policies, procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws.
• Interpret and implement federal and state labor and employment laws, regulations, and standards.
• Recognize risks and potential company liabilities, seeking legal counsel when necessary.
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in Human Resources, including recent involvement in employee relations investigations.
• Exceptional customer service, communication, interpersonal, listening, oral, and written skills.
• Capability to probe based on provided responses.
• Ability to organize and present information in a clear and concise manner.
• Skill in building rapport and effectively communicating challenging information.
• Proficient in interviewing employees, witnesses, and supervisors.
• Experience in preparing detailed documentation and maintaining files for potential future claims.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Capacity to handle highly confidential information.
• Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment law.
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• Preferred: SPHR certification.
• Preferred: Over 5 years of experience in Employee and Labor Relations; or 3+ years of related Human Resources experience; or a proven track record in business management experience.
