This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Take charge of the entire market research process for client projects, from defining the scope to delivering a comprehensive, decision-ready output.
• Personally design, conduct, analyze, and report on research initiatives employing a full range of quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Develop and uphold departmental processes, templates, and documentation standards.
• Integrate AI tools into research workflows and create basic dashboards or internal tools.
• Mentor and support research staff as the team expands.
• Keep research files, reference materials, and quality standards consistent across client deliverables.
• Address ad hoc and time-sensitive research requests with high accuracy and promptness.
• Contribute to the continuous development and standards of the Department.
• Over 8 years of practical experience in commercial market research, with exposure to multiple clients or industries (agency-side or equivalent).
• Proven capability to independently manage research projects, including the design, execution, analysis, and reporting phases.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing or managing a department, office, or research division, including its processes, systems, and personnel.
• Practical knowledge of applying AI tools within a research workflow, along with sufficient technical skills (Python, SQL, or low-code/BI tools) to independently create a simple dashboard or internal tool.
• Expertise in full-cycle quantitative and qualitative methodologies, which encompasses survey design, fieldwork (CATI/F2F/online), in-depth interviews, focus group moderation, and data analysis (Excel/SPSS).
• Excellent written English skills and the ability to clearly present findings to stakeholders and clients.
• Relevant tertiary degree in research, social science, statistics, marketing, or business.
• A postgraduate degree in research, psychology, statistics, or marketing is desirable.
• Experience at a boutique or independent research consultancy, or running your own research practice, is a plus.
• Experience in people management or mentoring is advantageous.
