This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take full ownership of commercial contracting from start to finish, encompassing MSAs, DPAs, and customer red lines.
• Manage a high volume of contract reviews efficiently.
• Establish and communicate a legal Service Level Agreement (SLA) for the sales team.
• Oversee legal risk tolerance, including playbooks, fallback positions, and templates.
• Manage the legal intake process and assess when external counsel is necessary.
• Handle data protection responsibilities, including DPAs, subprocessor management, DPIAs, DSARs, records of processing, and international data transfers.
• Ensure compliance with UK and EU GDPR, US state privacy laws, Quebec Law 25, and China's PIPL.
• Foster audit readiness through precise policies and effective corporate governance.
• Prepare the organization for due diligence, including share and option documentation as well as historical contractual exposure.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on background screening, right-to-work checks, DBS and credit assessments, and AI-assisted hiring functionalities.
• Manage regulatory compliance related to UK and EU GDPR, FCRA, the EU AI Act, and US state laws.
• Draft and negotiate partnership, reseller, and referral agreements.
• Oversee NDAs, supplier and vendor agreements, and the entire contract lifecycle from templates to renewals.
• Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer while working closely with Account Executives, Product, and Engineering teams.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a qualified lawyer or in a role such as contracts manager, legal operations lead, or commercial manager with significant negotiation authority.
• Proven experience managing customer-side contracts from initiation to completion, including MSAs, order forms, DPAs, NDAs, red lines, and liability caps.
• Practical experience with UK and EU GDPR, covering DPAs, DPIAs, DSARs, subprocessors, records of processing, and international data transfers.
• Experience in a scaling organization with approximately 30 to 250 employees.
• Broad knowledge of commercial contracting, data posture, and exit readiness.
• Ability to evaluate risk, suggest defensible solutions, and escalate genuine trade-offs as needed.
• Comfort with using and advancing AI tools, especially Claude.
• Strong communication skills with clarity and conciseness.
