This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Serve as the primary leader for all consultancy engagements related to forest products within the global pulp, paper, and packaging markets.
• Secure, execute, and manage a variety of strategic and market-focused consultancy projects in the forest products sector.
• Oversee consultancy deliverables (both independently and by managing others) ensuring they are robust, accurate, and thoroughly researched.
• Manage project resources utilizing modeling, data collection, and research interview techniques.
• Position the Fastmarkets consultancy practice as a credible and leading alternative to established competitors.
• Build, lead, and cultivate a high-performing consultancy team in the US.
• Develop scalable processes, frameworks, and methodologies for delivering consultancy services.
• Promote a high-performance, client-centric consulting culture.
• Lead the creation of market insights, reports, and client-facing thought leadership materials.
• Interpret complex market dynamics into actionable commercial strategies for clients.
• Take ownership of consultancy sales and drive revenue growth across North America and global accounts.
• Identify, develop, and convert new consultancy opportunities with both existing PRA and external clients.
• Establish a robust pipeline of project-based and retainer-based advisory engagements.
• Collaborate closely with commercial and account teams to integrate consultancy offerings into broader client relationships.
• Develop and maintain existing customer relationships while acquiring new consultancy clients, as well as securing repeat/retainer business.
• Engage in forecasting and CRM reporting.
• Represent the business at industry events, client presentations, and conferences.
• Leverage professional networks to uncover opportunities and source independent contractors to support engagement delivery.
• Experienced professional with a background in forest product consultancy.
• Proven track record in business development and research.
• Experience in a top-tier consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or a specialized commodities consultancy.
• Demonstrated ability to build or scale a consulting practice or business line within the forest products sector.
• In-depth knowledge of global pulp, paper, and packaging markets and their value chains.
• Strong history of leading client-facing advisory engagements at a senior level.
• Experience in complex solution selling and project execution/management involving single-client consultancy services.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in a second language is preferred.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel as needed.
• An established client and industry contact network is desirable.
• Self-motivated and proactive with a strong drive, able to thrive in a multitasking environment.
• Accountable and results-oriented.
• Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, in writing, and online.
• Effective and friendly team player eager to engage clients, project members, and colleagues while reaching ambitious goals.
