Head of Electrical Safety, Authorised Person

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Serve as the Authorized Person for LV/HV systems overseeing all critical power activities while ensuring adherence to EAWR 1989, BS7671, and the company's electrical safety protocols.

• Uphold and enforce safe work systems.

• Issue, manage, and finalize Permit to Work and Isolation Control processes.

• Authorize switching operations, including isolation and energization activities.

• Review and endorse Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS).

• Ensure thorough inspection, maintenance, and testing of all electrical systems.

• Lead investigations into electrical incidents, near misses, and high-potential events, implementing corrective and preventive measures.

• Oversee contractors, ensuring their competency and authorization to work in accordance with RAMS and permits.

• Supervise high-risk activities, immediately halting unsafe work, and rejecting RAMS or permits when necessary.

• Provide training and support for the development of competent individuals and broader electrical teams.

• Conduct briefings and toolbox talks on electrical safety, permit to work, and isolation procedures.

• Identify and implement enhancements to electrical safety systems and risk management controls.

⛳️ Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).

• Previous formal appointment as an Authorized Person (AP) with experience in at least LV systems; experience with HV systems is a plus.

• Familiarity with ISO19011 and relevant audit qualifications.

• Comprehensive understanding of EAWR requirements.

• A minimum of 5 years of electrical experience, including at least 2 years in an AP role.

• Background in manufacturing, ideally within critical power or industrial settings.

• Extensive experience with a wide array of products, including custom items with varying timelines.

• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective interpersonal skills with a capacity to negotiate and foster positive outcomes.

• Profound understanding of electrical risk and hazard management.

• High level of personal accountability and leadership in safety.

• Capability to challenge unsafe practices.

• Knowledge of Anord Mardix Electrical products, services, and competitors is preferred.
