Head of Development, AI Agent Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take overall technical ownership of the AI Agent Platform, overseeing everything from architecture and implementation to stable cloud operations.

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance utilizing Microsoft Azure and C#/.NET.

• Engage in the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of AI agents, multi-agent systems, and agentic workflows.

• Create and enhance knowledge graphs, RAG components, vector databases, and knowledge systems.

• Integrate foundational models and agent frameworks within the Microsoft ecosystem, as well as MCP servers.

• Develop and manage the entire CI/CD lifecycle, incorporating Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, release management, monitoring, and observability.

• Convert business requirements from product management and customer projects into high-quality product increments.

• Ensure security, multi-tenancy, scalability, cost efficiency, and operational reliability.

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and development for a small engineering team.

• Oversee collaboration with external development partners.

• Set development standards, conduct code reviews, maintain documentation, and implement AI-assisted development practices.

• Collaborate with executive management, product management, and the consulting team to shape the product roadmap.

• Work closely with executive management and product management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in software development.

• Several years of experience in developing AI-based systems.

• Initial experience in providing technical leadership to development teams.

• Proven track record in developing AI agents or agentic systems that are deployed in production environments.

• Strong programming skills in C# and .NET.

• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, architectural and design patterns, asynchronous programming, and testability.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Functions, Container Apps/AKS, Storage, Cosmos DB/SQL, Key Vault, and Entra ID.

• Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry/Azure OpenAI and Semantic Kernel or similar frameworks.

• In-depth understanding of the design, programming, orchestration, security, and evaluation of AI agents.

• Experience with planning, tool usage, memory management, guardrails, evaluation, and cost control.

• Knowledge of the complete CI/CD lifecycle for a cloud product.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, Infrastructure as Code (Bicep/Terraform), automated testing, deployments, and monitoring.

• Proven ability to translate business requirements into product features.

• Broad understanding of graphs, knowledge graphs, agent architectures, skills/tools, RAG, and vector databases.

• Excellent command of both written and spoken German and English.

• Preferred: Experience with MCP servers, tool calling, and multi-system agent orchestration.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Python for prototyping and data pipelines.

• Preferred: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservice architectures.

• Preferred: Experience with tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar solutions.

• Preferred: Experience with ERP, CRM, PLM, document management, and collaboration systems.

• A completed degree in computer science, business informatics, mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
