This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Take charge of Corel's M&A deal engine and acquisition strategy.
β’ Identify consumer, prosumer, and desktop software acquisition targets in the US, Canada, and Europe.
β’ Assess, structure, and carry out acquisitions.
β’ Develop and oversee Corel's M&A pipeline through relationships with bankers, outreach to founders, and thematic research.
β’ Lead the execution of transactions from valuation and financial modeling to drafting IOIs/LOIs, structuring, negotiating, signing, and closing deals.
β’ Collaborate with the CEO, executive team, and Vector Capital to create investment theses, deal memos, valuation analyses, and market maps.
β’ Oversee cross-functional due diligence involving finance, legal, tax, product, and technology teams.
β’ Manage external advisors and ensure transaction processes remain on schedule.
β’ Foster relationships with bankers, founders, and advisors.
β’ Work alongside integration leaders post-closing to guarantee that deals fulfill their intended objectives.
β’ Report directly to the CEO and eventually to the CFO; collaborate with Vector Capital's investment team.
β’ Over 8 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture/growth investing, and/or corporate development.
β’ Ideally, familiarity with consumer software and technology.
β’ Proven experience in executing deals from sourcing to closure.
β’ Proficient in financial modeling, including LBO models, merger models, and comparable company analyses.
β’ A genuine interest in consumer software roll-ups; experience with consumer, prosumer, or desktop software businesses is highly relevant.
β’ Strong commercial and operational judgment.
β’ Excellent executive presence with the ability to effectively communicate and influence at the C-suite, board, and sponsor level.
β’ Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams in a lean, fast-paced team environment.
β’ Experience in a PE-backed or sponsor-owned setting and executing buy-and-build strategies is a plus.
β’ An established network of technology bankers, founders, and advisors in the US and Canadian markets is a plus.
