This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of capital adequacy modeling for Ledgebrook’s risk-bearing entities, which include captives and fronting/carrier structures, primarily utilizing AM Best’s BCAR framework.
• Develop and maintain loss reserve models, incorporating triangle-based methodologies, and communicate reserve adequacy findings into high-level capital planning deliverables.
• Create and sustain dynamic capital planning models that stress-test surplus positions under challenging loss, premium growth, and reinsurance scenarios.
• Conduct underwriting profitability analysis by accident year, line of business, and entity.
• Provide actionable insights regarding combined ratio drivers and trends in reserve margins.
• Assist in annual planning and reforecasting processes by generating entity-level P&L projections and capital deployment scenarios.
• Act as the internal subject matter expert on statutory capital requirements, RBC frameworks, and AM Best rating methodologies.
• Work collaboratively with Actuarial, Accounting, and Underwriting teams to ensure coherence and audit readiness of reserve estimates, premium bookings, and capital positions.
• Create capital adequacy dashboards, reserve adequacy summaries, and scenario analyses for the CFO and Board.
• Support interactions with rating agencies and diligence processes, including conducting BCAR sensitivity analysis and preparing documentation.
• Identify and implement opportunities to automate and modernize capital and reserve reporting workflows.
• Report directly to the Director of FP&A, maintaining open communication lines with the CFO.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in insurance capital management, ERM, actuarial finance, or statutory FP&A at a carrier, captive, reinsurer, MGA with risk-bearing exposure, or rating agency.
• Practical experience with AM Best’s BCAR model, including the building, maintenance, or stress-testing of BCAR analyses for P&C entities.
• Knowledge of loss reserving methodologies.
• Familiarity with statutory financial statements and their connection to capital adequacy.
• Advanced financial modeling capabilities and expert-level proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to CFO and C-suite executives.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Applicants from the U.S. must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
• Experience with Workday and Snowflake is a plus.
