Head of Billing Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish the long-term strategic vision for Revenue and Billing Operations encompassing fulfillment, parcel, and software services.

• Create and adapt a scalable organizational structure for a complex, multi-service, multi-entity platform.

• Oversee comprehensive, contract-driven billing processes for parcel and fulfillment services.

• Convert client agreements into precise billing logic and workflows.

• Design and maintain billing configurations and pricing structures tailored to each client.

• Develop a deep understanding of data flows across WMS, TMS, parcel systems, and billing platforms.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Data teams to enhance and automate billing logic and integrations.

• Identify and address data capture and system design deficiencies impacting revenue realization.

• Construct scalable, auditable processes that minimize manual intervention.

• Ensure accurate revenue recognition in alignment with ASC 606.

• Collaborate with Corporate Accounting during month-end close, revenue accruals, and reconciliations.

• Provide reports on revenue, billing accuracy, and margin by client, service line, and activity.

• Lead the AI strategy for Revenue and Billing, including setting measurable adoption targets.

• Propel automation in billing logic, invoice processing, and exception resolution.

• Monitor financial performance, parcel and third-party cost recognition, and reporting.

• Conduct margin analysis by customer and service offering.

• Identify pricing discrepancies, cost leakages, and opportunities for margin enhancement.

• Communicate revenue insights and potential risks to Finance leadership, the CFO, and executive stakeholders.

• Collaborate with Sales, Legal, Customer Success, Operations, Finance, and Engineering on contracts, billing, disputes, and service delivery.

• Lead, mentor, and develop directors and managers.

• Foster a culture of precision, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Maintain internal controls over billing, revenue recognition, and cash application.

• Assist in external audits and revenue-related assessments.

• Ensure billing and revenue processes are compliant, well-documented, and scalable.

• Supervise sales tax discovery and appropriate application across services and jurisdictions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12–18 years of progressive experience in revenue operations, billing, finance, or related fields, ideally in logistics, 3PL, or high-volume transaction settings.

• Proven experience in designing or transforming a revenue/billing function at scale.

• Strong comprehension of complex billing models, including usage-based, contract-driven, and multi-service pricing.

• Demonstrated ability to work across data systems and grasp underlying data flows, such as ERP, WMS, TMS, and billing platforms.

• Experience collaborating with Engineering or Data teams to create scalable processes and automation.

• Familiarity with revenue recognition standards, including ASC 606.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence Finance leadership, the CFO, and executive stakeholders.

• High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
