Head of Bids

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead each bid from the qualification stage through to submission and award.

• Collaborate closely with Business Development while ensuring bid quality and meeting deadlines.

• Take ownership of pricing and commercial strategy for every bid.

• Oversee governance for decisions related to opportunity pursuits and various bid stages.

• Present bid risks and provide recommendations to senior leadership.

• Coordinate contributions from Product, Engineering, Services, Legal, and Finance into cohesive submissions.

• Develop the bids function, encompassing personnel, processes, content, tools, and AI capabilities.

• Plan resource allocation across active bids.

• Support, mentor, and develop the bids team.

• Establish trustworthy relationships with colleagues and partners.

• Create persuasive tenders for transit agencies and operators on an international scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in winning high-value, competitive bids.

• Demonstrated experience leading a bids or proposals team, including managing processes and governance.

• Capability to develop and articulate pricing strategy, balancing the probability of winning with margin considerations.

• Ability to present bid risks and recommendations effectively to senior leadership.

• Strong understanding of sales and procurement processes.

• Competence in managing multiple bids simultaneously while ensuring accuracy under tight deadlines.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to unite contributors across teams, time zones, and countries.

• Capacity to address disagreements respectfully and facilitate debates towards decisions.

• Experience in experimenting with AI tools and a curiosity to apply AI effectively in the workplace.

• Passion for developing people and providing constructive feedback.

• Familiarity with public procurement for technology solutions (desirable).

• Experience in public transport, mobility, or another regulated, tender-led sector (desirable).

• Proficiency in additional languages (desirable).

• Experience in introducing or enhancing bid tools, content libraries, or knowledge management (desirable).

• Applicants must be based in the UK and possess the current right to work in the UK.
