This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Oversee a team of engineers and grid modeling specialists, providing daily guidance, prioritizing tasks, and promoting technical excellence and teamwork.
• Take ownership of the turbine-level grid performance strategy throughout the New Product Introduction process, including requirements flow-down, Design Memo 1 documentation, and system-level design evaluations.
• Serve as the main point of contact for grid integration across converter design, firmware teams, and multidisciplinary system integration groups.
• Facilitate design trade-offs to enhance turbine performance.
• Write and manage the Grid Interconnection Document for clients and grid regulators.
• Lead the development, maintenance, and validation of turbine-level grid models using PSCAD, PSS/E, and DIgSILENT/PowerFactory.
• Identify grid testing requirements and assist in their execution.
• Drive technology development initiatives centered on advanced grid-forming converters and hybrid storage integration.
• Manage and uphold turbine-level grid certifications to ensure compliance with changing international standards.
• Cultivate engineering talent, mentor team members, and attract new professionals.
• Promote continuous improvement in modeling tools, simulation methodologies, and internal design processes.
• Represent the organization's grid integration capabilities to clients, regulators, utilities, and industry stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems, or a related STEM field, from an accredited institution.
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• 5 years of experience in renewables grid integration, power systems modeling, or electrical subsystem design.
• 3 years of experience leading engineering projects, technical teams, or functional engineering organizations.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Proficient in grid simulation tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Proven experience in leading the design and integration of grid-forming converters or hybrid energy storage systems.
• Strong knowledge of grid codes, interconnection requirements, and power system stability.
• Solid understanding of Wind Turbine NPI processes, converter hardware/firmware, and multidisciplinary system integration.
• Experience collaborating with external grid regulators, utility customers, and certification entities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to simplify complex technical subjects for non-expert stakeholders.
• Demonstrated capability to influence cross-functional technical decisions and achieve consensus in a matrixed environment.
• A history of enhancing engineering design processes, simulation rigor, or documentation quality.
• An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems is preferred.
