Cloud Solutions Architect – Mid/Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and enhance secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions for the DSCA Office of the CIO.

• Create, design, implement, and refine cloud architectures with a focus on networking and security.

• Lead the initial scoping processes and pinpoint critical dependencies.

• Identify and address technology risks while developing supporting architectures.

• Collaborate with functional business units to advance business solutions and direction.

• Develop and document frameworks for the integration and implementation of cloud systems.

• Determine sizing, capacity planning, and the requirements for infrastructure, network, and security.

• Design comprehensive cloud infrastructure solutions that balance performance, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.

• Plan and execute migrations from legacy on-premise systems to cloud-native environments, preferably AWS GovCloud.

• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and Terraform.

• Implement security controls, including IAM policies, encryption, VPC architecture, network security, and Zero Trust principles.

• Ensure compliance with DoD RMF, FedRAMP, and other relevant requirements.

• Optimize cloud environments through monitoring, cost analysis, performance tuning, and resource management.

• Work collaboratively with developers, data engineers, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders.

• Translate technical concepts into actionable solutions and recommendations at the executive level.

• Support Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration strategies.

• Develop automation pipelines and integrate them with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support mission objectives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive expertise in AWS cloud platforms, services, and best practices.

• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK.

• Proficient in scripting and automation using Python or comparable languages.

• Solid knowledge of networking, security (IAM, VPC, encryption), and Zero Trust models.

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.

• Must have and maintain an active Secret clearance during the consideration process.

• Must align with Eastern Time Zone's core business hours.

• Solutions Architect III: 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Master's degree; 0 years with a PhD; or a high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.

• Solutions Architect IV: 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 7 years with a Master's degree; 4 years with a PhD; or a high school diploma/equivalent and 13 years of relevant experience.

• Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification, or equivalent, preferred.

• Experience supporting DoD or federal government cloud environments is preferred.

• Hands-on experience with Databricks, ADVANA, or other cloud data/analytics platforms is preferred.

• Familiarity with migration tools and strategies is preferred.

• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure monitoring tools is preferred.

• Experience in SAFe Agile environments is preferred.

• Strong communication skills with technical teams and senior leadership are preferred.

• Ability to remain stationary and work at a computer for extended periods.

• Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.

• Ability to communicate effectively in virtual meetings, briefings, and secure collaboration environments.

• Ability to review, analyze, and interpret digital data for prolonged periods.

• Occasionally able to lift documents or equipment weighing up to 10 lbs.

• Must maintain a home work environment that meets company and government security requirements.

• Must work assigned East Coast core business hours.
