This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Annotate design assets for editorial, posters, and marketing based on established project schemas.
• Review brief video clips and record pertinent visual and compositional traits.
• Utilize accurate design terminology to describe visual elements and their relationships.
• Identify principles such as hierarchy, balance, emphasis, rhythm, proportion, and other compositional factors.
• Ensure consistent annotation quality across various design formats and styles.
• Analyze typography, layout systems, grids, spacing, color, and visual hierarchy.
• Break down completed designs into fundamental compositional structures.
• Evaluate design choices for clarity, communication, and desired visual impact.
• Populate structured metadata detailing geometry, hierarchy, style, and typographic systems.
• Assess brand systems, templates, and recurring visual patterns.
• Document compositional relationships in a systematic and repeatable manner.
• Employ composition and cinematography terminology in relation to short video content.
• Describe aspects such as framing, movement, visual flow, and spatial relationships.
• Create benchmark annotations to establish quality standards.
• Identify ambiguous cases, missing categories, and edge cases within annotation schemas.
• Collaborate with project leads and quality reviewers as annotation standards develop.
• Maintain consistency and meticulousness during framework updates.
• 3–5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, visual design, brand design, editorial design, layout or print specialization, art direction, or a closely related field.
• Professionals with 7+ years of experience or significant art-direction expertise may be suited for quality-leadership roles.
• A portfolio showcasing advanced skills in typography, color, layout, grid systems, and visual hierarchy.
• Strong foundation in editorial, poster, marketing, or similar communication design.
• Expert proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar professional design tools.
• Relevant Adobe experience may include Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and After Effects.
• Familiarity with Canva or other production platforms is advantageous.
• Ability to articulate design concepts accurately using established design and composition terminology.
• Strong written English skills for detailed annotation and organized documentation.
• Experience in motion design, video editing, or cinematography is a plus.
• Work must be conducted without utilizing confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, agency, institution, or other third party.
• Fully remote work environment.
• Engagement as an independent contractor.
• Compensation ranging from $20 to $50 per hour.
• Flexible project scope and workload based on project needs.
