Global Sustainability Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the central global leader for sustainability and environmental compliance strategy across all markets where iHerb operates.

• Keep track of and analyze new global sustainability legislation, including EPR, CSRD, EU Deforestation Regulation, and equivalent regional frameworks.

• Convert regulatory requirements into practical business strategies.

• Oversee EPR registration, reporting, and fee responsibilities across relevant jurisdictions, including collaboration with Producer Responsibility Organizations.

• Lead team members and collaborate across departments with Operations and Product teams to create precise packaging data tracking systems.

• Set operating standards for the team and manage internal SOPs, compliance workflows, and systems for tracking deadlines.

• Serve as the main point of contact for regulators, trade associations, and compliance schemes.

• Offer guidance to Legal, Operations, Marketing, and Merchandising concerning sustainability-related regulatory risks.

• Foster internal expertise on the subject matter to decrease dependence on external counsel and consultants.

• Modify departmental plans and prioritize tasks to meet regulatory deadlines, manage capacity limitations, and address operational challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Regulatory Affairs, or a related discipline.

• 7–10 years of experience in global sustainability, ESG, or environmental regulatory compliance, preferably across multiple regions (EU, US, APAC).

• In-depth knowledge of EPR frameworks, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and similar US state-level packaging/EPR regulations.

• Proven experience in managing regulatory registrations and reporting cycles across multiple jurisdictions.

• Excellent cross-functional communication skills; comfortable presenting risk and compliance matters to senior leadership.

• Experience in retail, CPG, e-commerce, or a similar regulated consumer products environment is preferred.
