This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Lead PAI’s global government engagement initiatives.
• Create customized engagement strategies for key jurisdictions and institutions.
• Identify key stakeholders and evaluate government priorities, focus areas, and gaps.
• Discover new government partners and strengthen existing relationships.
• Assist in PAI representation in entities such as the Council of Europe.
• Suggest thematic priorities for jurisdictions in collaboration with Programs & Research.
• Develop Memorandum of Understanding proposals with government entities for PAI Legal review.
• Represent PAI in international and jurisdiction-specific policy discussions.
• Organize multi-stakeholder convenings with policymakers and PAI Partners.
• Lead submissions to government calls for evidence.
• Convert research and data into public policy positions and briefing documents.
• Design and facilitate listening sessions and convenings for policymakers.
• Support engagement strategies for major government events, summits, and multilateral forums.
• Plan convenings and create resulting summary documents and position papers.
• Prepare event engagement strategies, talking points, bilateral meeting lists, scheduling, stakeholder coordination, and preparation packages.
• Monitor metrics and report on PAI policy convenings and government engagement.
• Draft briefing materials for PAI’s CEO and senior leadership.
• Provide verbal briefings and accompany senior leaders on US and international government engagements.
• Monitor, interpret, and analyze global policy developments, legislative texts, and international AI policies and frameworks.
• Maintain policy tracking systems and keep the organization updated through regular reports.
• Brief teams prior to policy events and connect policy work across PAI departments, partners, and stakeholders.
• A Master's degree or higher in a related field or equivalent (7+ years) work experience is required.
• Extensive experience in government relations, public policy, or international affairs, preferably with exposure to technology or AI policy.
• Proven ability to build relationships with senior government and multilateral stakeholders across various jurisdictions.
• Exceptional writing skills, with experience in producing briefing materials, evidence submissions, or position papers for senior audiences.
• Capability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams under tight external deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally for government meetings and events.
• Experience working in or with multi-stakeholder, non-profit, or mission-driven organizations is advantageous.
• Proficient stakeholder management skills to foster strong relationships, navigate conflicting opinions and priorities, and achieve results through collaboration.
• Strong team player and project manager capable of working across the organization, establishing stakeholder engagement/tracking processes, and coordinating between teams.
• Analytical and strategic thinker with the ability to identify trends and synthesize critical information in briefs, memos, position papers, and presentations.
• Solid understanding of political sensitivities to pinpoint key issues and risks before they materialize.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States or Canada, depending on the location of residence.
• PAI is currently unable to sponsor visas.
