This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly closing processes, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations, ensuring the delivery of precise and timely US GAAP financial statements.
• Aim to decrease the closing duration from roughly 10 business days to between 6 and 8 days within the first year, while minimizing post-close adjustments and aged reconciliations.
• Take charge of revenue accounting and act as the technical accounting authority for subscription and usage-based revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
• Reconcile annual recurring revenue (ARR), billings, deferred revenue, contract assets, and usage adjustments to reported revenue, providing explanations for variances to leadership and the board.
• Draft technical accounting position memos concerning contract modifications, standalone selling price (SSP) allocation, variable consideration, and capitalized contract costs.
• Manage equity compensation accounting under ASC 718, covering grant accuracy, 409A timing, expense, modifications, and maintaining cap-table integrity.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately 7 in areas including revenue accounting, closing, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and treasury.
• Establish a control framework to ensure the books are audit-ready.
• Oversee the accounting systems roadmap and promote automation in the closing and reporting processes.
• Handle selected treasury operations, cash management, banking relationships, and monitoring of foreign exchange exposure.
• Manage the external audit relationship and collaborate with external tax partners on compliance, provisions, and filings.
• Coordinate statutory accounting, payroll and contractor controls, entity reporting, and international compliance across a globally distributed team.
• 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles through managers or leads.
• Background in a Big 4 or equivalent top-tier public accounting firm.
• Extensive mastery of US GAAP, particularly in the areas of subscription and usage-based revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• A significant, personally-driven automation or AI implementation in accounting that resulted in measurable outcomes.
• Experience in scaling an existing accounting function rather than building one from scratch.
• Proven success in managing external audits and maintaining books that are audit-ready.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities, with a proven ability to build credibility with senior, cross-functional stakeholders.
• Preferred: experience with internal controls or SOX-readiness; experience in a remote-first or globally distributed company; exposure to mergers and acquisitions or deal accounting; CPA license, whether active or inactive.
