Controller, Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Assist with daily financial accounting tasks, encompassing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed asset management.

• Review, categorize, and record incoming and outgoing invoices down to the individual supporting document level.

• Conduct intercompany reconciliations and settlements among various entities.

• Manage payment transactions effectively.

• Actively contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements in line with German GAAP (HGB), which includes the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

• Oversee and implement monthly reporting, providing commentary on business management analyses (BWA).

• Analyze variances between budget and actual figures, deriving actionable business management measures.

• Develop budgets, forecasts, reports, and liquidity overviews for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

• Work across multiple entities, managing approximately 150,000 transactions each year.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong professional experience in accounting, covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting—preferably in a multi-entity environment or a role with extensive individual responsibility.

• Proven experience in reviewing and coding invoices with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Comprehensive understanding of financial statements prepared in accordance with German GAAP (HGB).

• Experience in supporting the preparation of annual financial statements is advantageous.

• Expertise in controlling, including deriving KPIs, forecasts, and business management measures from financial data.

• Proficiency in DATEV is essential.

• Advanced skills in Excel.

• Quick learner with a high degree of independence and a keen attention to detail.

• Fluent in both German and English, written and spoken, with strong negotiation capabilities.

• Initial experience with BI tools and developing reporting structures from scratch is a plus.

• Background in hospitality, real estate, or a multi-entity environment is beneficial.

• Interest in automation and process optimization, including API integrations and automated accounting, is an asset.
