Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary financial guardian for clients, overseeing and protecting their financial assets.

• Direct, supervise, and mentor Shared Services Specialists, Staff Accountants, and Senior Accountants.

• Manage clients’ financial reporting, compliance requirements, and internal control systems.

• Take ownership of the complete accounting function, encompassing corporate finance, adherence to GAAP, and tax compliance.

• Convert financial data into strategic insights aligned with client objectives.

• Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial statements.

• Oversee intricate financial projects that align with strategic goals.

• Interpret and implement new accounting standards as a firm-wide expert and advisor.

• Ensure timely completion of tasks, adherence to deadlines, and high-quality outcomes.

• Guide team members while fostering development and knowledge sharing.

• Collaborate with leadership to identify new service opportunities for current clients.

• Promote innovation in financial systems and processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and risk management.

• Build client trust, address customer concerns, enhance customer service, and facilitate organic growth.

• Partner with internal leadership on strategic planning and client relationship management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

• At least 8-10 years of experience in accounting.

• CPA certification is highly preferred.

• Experience in Public Accounting is strongly preferred.

• Background as a Controller or Assistant Controller in small privately-held, entrepreneurial firms.

• Extensive knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, and NetSuite.

• High level of integrity and ethical standards.

• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities with the capability to inspire and guide a remote team effectively.

• Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US.

• Successful completion of a background check.

• Must pass a mandatory live accounting test via Teams Screen Share.
