This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.
• Access and retrieve datasets from various sources.
• Integrate data from diverse formats and ensure data consistency.
• Maintain extensive time series, detect anomalies, and fill in missing data.
• Generate new variables and indicators based on existing data.
• Create visual representations such as charts to illustrate results.
• Conduct spatial analysis and perform geoprocessing tasks.
• Automate geoprocessing workflows using Python programming.
• Implement appropriate class breaks and symbologies for data representation.
• Develop formatted maps, choropleth maps, and interactive web maps.
• Utilize online storytelling platforms like Esri StoryMaps.
• Oversee geospatial data modeling, transformation, enrichment, quality assurance, dissemination, and visualization.
• Provide geographic insights and accurate reporting of spatial data.
• Address GIS challenges from integration to configuration.
• Manage multiple GIS projects and deliver results both collaboratively and independently.
• At least 7 years of substantial experience in data wrangling, gathering, structuring, and transformation, including visually communicating results through tables, charts, and documents.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience handling geospatial data, including spatial analysis, cartography, geoprocessing, geodatabase management, production workflows, coordinate systems, metadata, map layouts, and interactive web maps.
• At least 7 years of experience working with authoritative data sources such as Eurostat, EEA, and JRC.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience with territorial typologies, including NUTS, rural-urban typologies, MetroRegions, Degree of Urbanisation, border regions, island regions, coastal regions, mountain regions, Functional Urban Areas, and Local Administrative Units.
• Proficient knowledge of GIS methodologies, tools, and technologies like ArcGIS, supported by formal training or certification.
• Hands-on experience with GIS methodologies, tools, and platforms for spatial analysis and mapping.
• Familiarity with geospatial database management systems, such as Oracle.
• Understanding of geospatial data management processes, including modeling, transformation, enrichment, quality assurance, dissemination, and visualization.
• Expertise in spatial analysis methodologies, including computational geometry, network analysis, geo-statistics, and remote sensing.
• Proficient in programming and scripting languages, such as Python, for automating GIS workflows.
• Knowledge of cartographic design principles and web mapping technologies, such as ArcGIS Online.
• Familiarity with earth observation data operations, including Copernicus, Sentinel, and Landsat.
• Knowledge of metadata standards and cataloging, such as INSPIRE metadata.
• Experience with various data types, including tabular, raster, vector, time-series, environmental, economic, and demographic data.
• Ability to identify NUTS versions and levels accurately.
• Experience in developing workflows to calculate indicators at specific territorial levels.
• Proven experience in aggregating indicators from grid level to polygon level.
• Mandatory ArcGIS Pro Technical Certification, Foundation level, or equivalent.
