This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architecture, development, integration, and maintenance of geospatial and situational-awareness applications that support defense and mission operations.

• Design and sustain client, server, database, and service components within distributed software architectures.

• Create map-based user interfaces and data visualization tools for operational tracks across air, surface, ground, subsurface, and related domains.

• Integrate software with radars, sensors, external data feeds, and mission-system interfaces.

• Construct and enhance geospatial components utilizing vector, terrain, imagery, and open-source mapping data.

• Develop solutions for the storage, querying, transformation, dissemination, and display of geospatial data.

• Assess and adopt new mapping technologies, open standards, data formats, and open-source components.

• Convert customer and operator requirements into software specifications, technical designs, prototypes, and production releases.

• Provide technical guidance throughout design reviews, coding, testing, documentation, deployment, and ongoing support.

• Troubleshoot complex software, data, network, and systems-integration challenges in both development and operational settings.

• Mentor engineers and promote effective development, integration, and documentation practices.

• Cultivate relationships with government clients, end users, systems engineers, and partner development teams.

• Conduct technical demonstrations, training, documentation, and user support.

• Contribute to technical planning, solution development, and customer discussions regarding future capabilities.

• Assume technical ownership of assigned geospatial mission-software components and integration points.

• Provide enhancements to mapping, sensor ingestion, track display, and data management capabilities.

• Mitigate integration and sustainment risks through enhanced architecture, testing, documentation, and technical practices.

• Develop a roadmap for system evolution while ensuring mission continuity and interoperability.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible software development experience, including technical leadership or ownership of complex applications.

• Proven experience in developing mapping, GIS, geospatial visualization, or situational-awareness software.

• Strong hands-on programming expertise in Java and at least one additional language such as JavaScript, C++, or Python.

• Experience with distributed or client-server architectures, databases, APIs, and networked services.

• Familiarity with integrating real-time or near-real-time data from sensors, radars, tracking systems, or other external sources.

• Working knowledge of geospatial data types and services, including vector data, terrain/elevation data, imagery, OpenStreetMap, spatial databases, or web map services.

• Ability to lead efforts across requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to customers and end users.

• Capability to work effectively within a defense contracting environment alongside geographically distributed teams and mission stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, geographic information science, or a related technical field.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in computer science, geographic information science, or a related field.

• Preferred experience includes maritime domain awareness, command and control, C2/C4ISR/C5ISR, mission planning, battlespace visualization, radar tracks, sensor fusion, track management, tactical data, operational common-picture applications, mapping frameworks, spatially-enabled databases, NGA data products and formats, OGC standards and services, open-source software, simulation/training/after-action review/spatial-analysis applications, and U.S. Government or Department of Defense clients.
