Gilt Flow Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the availability and transportation schedules of gilts.

• Manage gilt weights upon entering sow farms.

• Coordinate barn sizes and locations to ensure alignment with pig flow forecasts.

• Project movements based on weight and age in days.

• Direct biosecurity measures and supervise facilities during gilt grow-outs.

• Supervise training and establish criteria for gilt selection.

• Manage projections related to pig flow from sow farms to evaluate space requirements and timing.

• Collaborate with the veterinary team to monitor health and vaccination needs across various locations and flows.

• Manage and convey any abrupt changes pertaining to pig flow and animal marketing.

• Provide technical guidance, education, and training associated with pig flow and marketing strategies.

• Identify and spearhead opportunities for process improvements related to pig flow and animal marketing.

• Approve payments to producers and growers.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

• Supervise a team of 4–5 direct reports.


⛳️ Requirements

• BS/BA in Animal Science or a comparable degree, or 5 years of equivalent experience in swine production.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Understanding of overall business strategy and operations.

• Proficient in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Outstanding organizational and communication skills.

• Possession of a valid driver's license.

• Capability to bend, push, pull, twist, and lift weights of approximately 60+ lbs.

• Must reside centrally within the service areas of Arkansas, Missouri, and Iowa.

• Ability to undergo post-offer drug, alcohol, and background checks.

• Employment eligibility verification is mandated under the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
