Geologist, Up to 75% travel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Ensure the delivery of high-quality spring water that complies with FDA/IBWA standards.

• Keep updated and easily accessible information on the spring sources utilized by Niagara.

• Oversee the evaluation and qualification of new spring and water well sources for expansion and backup plants.

• Act as the main point of contact and liaison for spring source owners.

• Perform audits of spring sources and monitor water quality, changes, and trends.

• Keep track of spring source permits, their expirations, and renewals.

• Create and maintain databases and documentation relating to spring SOI, hydrogeology, engineering, and permits.

• Offer technical resources to spring owners who are upgrading or modifying their facilities.

• Monitor regulatory changes and land-use activities, as well as potential contaminant threats.

• Represent Niagara in regulatory and local community meetings as needed.

• Collaborate with spring owners and the Procurement team on spring improvement initiatives.

• Identify and assess spring sources in proximity to proposed expansion facilities.

• Assist in the layout and design of spring site development.

• Prepare cost estimates for planning improvements required to bring new springs online.

• Provide technical support to Niagara's Contracts Team.

• Seek and cultivate opportunities for Niagara-owned spring sources.

• Construct and maintain databases for spring sources, water quality statistics, and trend graphs.

• Oversee Niagara-owned groundwater wells, including siting, design, permitting, drilling, installation, testing, and maintenance.

• Conduct aquifer testing and water quality sampling.

• Prepare necessary documentation and reports.

• Assist the Consumer Affairs Team with customer inquiries.

• Engage with customers to present information regarding spring source quality and integrity.

• Report directly to the Principal Geologist.

• Supervise Geologist I and II positions as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in the field or in a comparable manufacturing environment.

• At least 6 years of experience in the specific role.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in managing people/projects.

• A Licensed Professional Geologist certification (National Association of State Boards of Geology) is mandatory.

• At least 6 years of experience in spring site evaluation, development, and permitting.

• Proven knowledge of federal and state-specific regulations governing spring sources and wells.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.

• Willingness to travel at least 75% of the time.

• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to walk and hike over uneven terrain for extended durations.

• Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons and varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.

• A Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Geological Science or a related field is required.

• Licensed Professional Geologist certification/license is essential.

• Experience may be a combination of work experience and education.
