This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the expert physician in the fields of genetics, genomics, hereditary conditions, and genetic testing services.

• Evaluate intricate authorization requests, appeals, and medical necessity assessments concerning molecular diagnostics, genomic testing, pharmacogenomics, and hereditary disease evaluations.

• Engage in peer-to-peer consultations with healthcare providers and utilize evidence-based clinical criteria to support suitable testing and treatment decisions.

• Offer clinical insights to utilization management, quality assurance, case management, and operational teams.

• Interpret and implement Medicaid regulations, medical policies, and national guidelines for genetic testing to ensure program compliance.

• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to enhance healthcare outcomes, promote quality initiatives, and ensure the appropriate use of genetic testing services.

• Work alongside providers, genetic counselors, laboratories, clients, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Participate in peer-to-peer reviews, intricate case consultations, and medical necessity assessments related to genetic testing and precision medicine services.

• Contribute to the development of clinical policies, quality outcomes, and program efficacy through clinical documentation review and evidence-based decision-making.


⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).

• Active and unrestricted U.S. medical license.

• Must possess an active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in California.

• Board Certification in Medical Genetics and Genomics, Clinical Genetics, or a related specialty is required.

• At least 5+ years of post-residency clinical experience in genetics, genomics, hereditary diseases, or genetic testing programs.

• In-depth knowledge of molecular diagnostics, genomic testing, hereditary cancer syndromes, rare diseases, pharmacogenomics, and evidence-based clinical guidelines.

• Experience with Medicaid programs, utilization management, prior authorization, appeals, or medical review activities.

• Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making capabilities.

• Must perform work while located within the United States.

• Flexibility is required as needed for the standard schedule.
