Generator Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Service and maintain commercial generators located at cell phone towers within the designated area.

• Diagnose and repair issues with generators while ensuring their upkeep.

• Install and replace parts or complete systems as needed.

• Carry out maintenance or enhancements on equipment that is off-season.

• Execute performance evaluations and routine maintenance on generators.

• Interpret and adhere to blueprints and design specifications for installation and repairs.

• Set up fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring, controls, and other necessary components.

• Test equipment to ensure it operates correctly.

• Respond swiftly to power or generator alarms.

• Address assigned phone calls and emails in a timely manner.

• Conduct work safely around hazards related to power supply equipment, switching gear, and similar devices.

• Utilize safety gear and adhere to safety protocols.

• Attend and engage in designated safety and training sessions.

• Specific responsibilities may change based on business and client requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred: Two or more years of experience in generator maintenance.

• Minimum of one year of hands-on experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes.

• Comprehensive knowledge of generator installation, maintenance, and repair procedures.

• Familiarity with electronic, mechanical, and electrical components.

• Moderate proficiency in computer skills.

• Basic understanding of relevant FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations.

• Ability to adhere to OSHA Standards.

• Capability to lift over 50 pounds, as well as stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for extended periods.

• Competence in inspecting and troubleshooting equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly.

• Willingness and ability to drive long distances and work during day, evening, or night shifts.

• Readiness to work overtime, respond to emergency callouts, and be available on weekends and holidays as necessary.

• Must be prepared to assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be away from home for prolonged periods.

• Must successfully pass a DOT physical examination.
