Generator Commissioning Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the generator commissioning process covering mechanical, electrical, and controls aspects, starting from equipment delivery to the handover to operations.

• Act as the primary technical expert on generators and the main point of contact with vendors.

• Evaluate vendor work, ensure compliance with Giga's standards, and address technical challenges encountered in the field.

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering teams, generator vendors, and site contractors.

• Oversee parts coordination and procurement to avoid delays in commissioning.

• Manage the ordering and coordination of fuel for testing and startup activities.

• Supervise generator testing across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines.

• Lead troubleshooting efforts in cases where equipment does not meet performance expectations.

• Serve as the primary on-site contact for issues related to installation and testing.

• Organize, manage, and provide commissioning documentation, including commissioning records, punch lists, and turnover packages.

• Maintain site safety standards throughout the commissioning process.

• Inform teams and leadership about the status of generator systems and any risk factors.

• Manage planning, documentation, vendor coordination, and preparations remotely between commissioning phases.

• Travel to data center facilities, integrate with site teams, and oversee work until turnover is complete.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with electrical systems, mechanical systems, generators, or operations in data center/mission-critical facilities.

• Capacity to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and participate in on-call rotations as necessary.

• Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities; skilled at identifying root causes and applying solutions.

• Excellent technical communication and documentation capabilities.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documents.

• Skilled in using Microsoft Office products and applications.

• Willingness to travel to data center locations as required.

• Ability to work in the physical conditions outlined below, with reasonable accommodations.

• Maintain balance and perform equipment maintenance tasks while on ladders or elevated surfaces.

• Regularly engage in walking, using hands and fingers, handling or feeling objects, reaching with arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, working above shoulders, grasping, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment into position.

• Work in an environment that necessitates provided ear protection.
