Generalist Engineer – R&D

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and create production-grade systems that are dependable, scalable, and observable.

• Take full ownership of systems from problem identification to design, data handling, implementation, deployment, and operations.

• Collaborate across application services, distributed systems, infrastructure, data pipelines, and machine learning systems.

• Troubleshoot intricate production issues across various layers.

• Make engineering decisions based on fundamental principles.

• Enhance performance, latency, reliability, and cost efficiency.

• Contribute to architectural design and technical strategy.

• Produce maintainable code and comprehensive documentation.

• Elevate the standards of engineering excellence.

• Accurately frame problems: determining when to apply machine learning versus deterministic systems.

• Manage data throughout its lifecycle.

• Train, assess, and refine models.

• Construct reproducible pipelines.

• Deploy models and oversee performance, drift, and cost.

• Troubleshoot system and model failures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundation in computer science principles (data structures and algorithms, operating systems, networking, distributed systems).

• Proficient in probability and statistics.

• Experience in developing production systems at scale.

• Versatility in programming languages (Go, Java, Python, Rust, SQL).

• Understanding of system behavior during high load and failure scenarios.

• Familiarity with Linux, containers, and Kubernetes.

• Excellent debugging abilities.

• Capability to reason using invariants and failure modes.

• Knowledge of data systems, streaming systems, machine learning infrastructure, and performance optimization.
