General Surgery, Profee Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding across four or more specialties for one or more clients or facilities.

• Code Professional Fee, Facility, or HCC cases, which may include inpatient coding.

• Utilize the company algorithm to calculate ProFee and/or Facility E/M levels.

• Identify critical care cases based on patient acuity.

• Code surgical procedures typical of an ER setting to capture additional revenue when applicable.

• Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes with the highest level of specificity.

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS codes.

• Interpret coding guidelines to ensure precise code assignment.

• Recognize the impact of documentation on code assignment and reimbursement.

• Maintain established quality and productivity standards.

• Engage professionally with clients to nurture business relationships.

• Assist Leadership or Lead Coding Specialist with reports as required.

• Potentially provide support with auditing tasks.

• Adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Ethics and Compliance Program.

• Comply with internal policies and procedures.

• Participate in training and educational programs provided by the company.

• Safeguard confidential information and Personal Health Information.

• Execute additional duties as assigned by Leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification required through either AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P).

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

• Advanced knowledge and experience with EMR and billing systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

• Capability to perform basic Excel formulas and create basic pivot tables.

• Ability to manage emails and schedule as well as attend meetings in Outlook.

• Current knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references.

• Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is essential.

• Maintain ongoing productivity and accuracy levels of 95% or above.

• Ensure ongoing quality score of 95% or higher.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines.

• Capability to work independently from home.

• Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day.

• Occasionally able to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
