This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct investigations, analyze, and ascertain client liability for personal, casualty, or property losses and damages.
• Communicate with or interview client personnel, medical professionals, agents, witnesses, and claimants.
• Gather reports and documentation to assess and evaluate losses or damages.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants when appropriate.
• Evaluate and estimate vehicle and property damages.
• Collect information through interviews and review customer records.
• Analyze evidence and search legal and property records.
• Adhere to contract, property, insurance, and evidence-procedure laws.
• Collect physical evidence and inspect properties to assess damages.
• Review insurance applications, contracts, policies, and coverage memoranda.
• Acquire, review, and assess police, medical, and other relevant records.
• Propose actions for claims.
• Set and adjust claim reserves in line with guidelines and authority levels.
• Maintain records, reports, files, and active claim diaries in the Claims Management Information System (CMIS).
• Follow company protocols and regulatory standards.
• Prepare timely reports for clients and document information within CMIS.
• Collect evidence for contested claims presented in court.
• Select and manage defense and coverage counsel, as well as experts.
• Keep clients informed and guide defense counsel on litigated cases.
• Participate in litigation hearings, settlement conferences, and mediations, including necessary travel.
• A four-year college degree (preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of managing public entity liability claims.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in insurance claims, self-insurance, pooled insurance, or Joint Powers Authorities (JPAs).
• At least three years of experience using Microsoft Windows on a PC, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• A minimum of two years using video conferencing tools, such as Teams and Zoom, with the ability to set up and host group meetings utilizing all available features.
• At least two years of experience with claims management software and/or the capability to quickly adapt to new claims-management systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be legally and technically equipped to manage claims competently, including complex litigated claims.
