This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Report directly to the CEO & Co-Founder, providing decision-ready insights to the CEO, founders, and board.
• Establish legal and enterprise-risk strategies, holding ultimate responsibility for legal sign-offs.
• Lead the in-house legal team and collaborate with specialized outside counsel.
• Manage the architecture of commercial contracts, including customer and partner agreements, product modules, order forms, DPAs, and NDAs.
• Enhance templates, playbooks, delegation protocols, and legal tools.
• Provide counsel on partnerships, investments, acquisitions, integrations, and various strategic initiatives.
• Supervise privacy and data protection matters, ensuring compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, US state privacy laws, consent frameworks, controller/processor assessments, data transfers, and retention policies.
• Oversee significant disputes and intellectual property risks, including strategy formulation, preservation, discovery, and resolution.
• Maintain corporate governance across entities, including board materials, delegated authorities, insurance, and cross-border structures.
• Support employment, marketing, and other enterprise matters requiring senior legal expertise.
• Develop the in-house legal team, manage the legal budget and outside counsel panel, and scale the legal function through improved processes and technology.
• Experience as the senior legal decision-maker in-house or directly beneath one, with clear responsibility for enterprise-critical issues.
• Comfortable providing advice to founders, executives, and boards.
• Possess strong commercial and regulatory judgment from experience in adtech, digital identity, data infrastructure, privacy technology, or a similarly complex B2B software sector.
• Capable of forming defensible positions on novel data protection queries or critically evaluating specialists' positions.
• Ability to translate legal positions into actionable product and contracting decisions.
• Proactive and collaborative partnership with leaders in Commercial, Product, Engineering, and People departments.
• Skilled at directing specialists and making final internal recommendations.
• Competent in developing lawyers, delegating effectively, establishing guardrails, and refining legal work processes.
• Qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction.
• Admitted and in good standing in the US, UK, or another jurisdiction suitable for advising a UK-parented global technology group with significant US exposure.
• Direct experience in the adtech and identity ecosystem, including IAB consent frameworks, digital advertising standards, data marketplaces, or data broker regulation (preferred).
• Experience in integrating acquisitions across jurisdictions, including entity governance, data integration, commercial migration, and EOR/PEO employment structures (preferred).
