Employment Counsel – International

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee day-to-day legal HR support for Howmet’s global operations outside the United States.

• Provide guidance to business leaders and HR teams on employment issues in Europe, particularly in France, Germany, the UK, and Hungary.

• Coordinate with external legal counsel concerning non-US employment matters in Europe, Japan, China, and Australia.

• Collaborate with HR partners to review and enhance employment policies and procedures, including employee handbooks, bonus structures, compensation guidelines, and severance programs.

• Ensure that offer letters, employment contracts, and separation agreements comply with legal standards and meet business needs.

• Manage external legal counsel in relation to litigation matters.

• Suggest practical commercial solutions to legal and business risks, driving issues towards resolution.

• Keep HR teams updated on important employment legislation impacting the business or HR policies in Europe and Asia.

• Work within an international setting, engaging with clients and colleagues across various regions and legal frameworks.

• Support Howmet Aerospace Inc., a global leader in advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace, defense, and transportation sectors.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (law degree).

• Active member in good standing with the relevant bar association.

• A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience from an international law firm.

• In-house legal experience is a plus.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Proficiency in the French language is a significant advantage.

• Strong integrity and discretion, consistent with Howmet's values, policies, and legal department practices.

• Adequate skills and confidence in personal capabilities.

• Risk-based approach to prioritizing tasks and mitigating risks.

• Ability to clearly articulate legal issues and engage with stakeholders across various organizational levels.

• Proactively implement processes and procedures across multiple jurisdictions.
