This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska, +4 more states.
• Oversee the development of natural gas generation projects from the identification of sites to providing support during construction.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as Commercial, Data Center Development, Renewable Generation Development, and Solutions Engineering to create integrated Powered Land Solutions.
• Assess the feasibility of projects, which includes site selection, fuel supply logistics, interconnection, infrastructure, and permitting strategies.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, forecasts, financial models, and development risk registers.
• Coordinate the identification of pipelines, engage with utilities, and strategize fuel supply while assisting in commercial negotiations.
• Work together with engineering consultants, permitting agencies, landowners, utility providers, customers, and contractors to meet project milestones.
• Assist in discretionary permitting, public meetings, regulatory interactions, and environmental assessments.
• Organize engineering, site due diligence, land activities, and infrastructure planning.
• Oversee contracts and ensure compliance with agreements related to site control, fuel supply, and commercial aspects.
• Identify potential project risks, suggest mitigation strategies, and provide updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Facilitate project financing due diligence and maintain precise project documentation within AES systems.
• Lead the transition of projects to Construction once development milestones are reached.
• Represent AES in a professional manner and foster relationships with customers, partners, regulatory agencies, and local communities.
• Proven experience in developing a minimum of 500MW of natural gas generation projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Understanding of project development, permitting processes, utility coordination, interconnection, pipeline infrastructure, and commercial contracts.
• Experience working with fuel supply strategies, utilities, pipeline operators, or integrated energy infrastructure.
• Familiarity with gas generation technologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively across technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams to create effective energy solutions.
• Experience in supporting data centers, large-load customers, powered land projects, or similar infrastructure initiatives is preferred.
• Strong skills in project management, organization, and problem-solving.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as necessary for projects and business needs.
