Fullstack Developer – Backend Focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of features from conception through to deployment, including architecture, data modeling, backend implementation, frontend work, and production support.

• Develop, manage, and maintain containerized backend services, APIs, and infrastructure on AWS.

• Craft solutions for distributed, message-driven, and service-oriented architectures.

• Implement frontend functionalities using Angular in accordance with product requirements and design specifications.

• Assess business needs and convert them into practical technical solutions.

• Focus on enhancing application performance, reliability, and maintainability on a continuous basis.

• Produce clean, maintainable, and comprehensible code complemented by suitable automated tests.

• Engage in detailed code reviews and contribute to the establishment of engineering standards.

• Identify and resolve issues across backend, frontend, and infrastructure components.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers in an agile setting.

• Regularly utilize AI coding assistants and agents as part of the engineering workflow.

• Decompose engineering tasks for effective delegation to AI agents and critically evaluate AI-generated code.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience, predominantly in backend engineering.

• Significant professional experience with PHP and Symfony, or other backend ecosystems like Java, Python, or Node.js, with a readiness to work in PHP/Symfony from day one.

• Comprehensive understanding of REST APIs, message-driven systems, microservices, and distributed architectures.

• Strong expertise in relational databases, data modeling, and schema design.

• Practical experience implementing frontend features in Angular or similar frameworks such as React or Vue.js.

• Proficient in component and state logic, API integration, and capable of implementing given designs with solid styling skills.

• Experienced in automated testing, Docker, containerized applications, and cloud-native development; ideally familiar with AWS.

• Familiarity with AI coding assistants or agents, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.

• Proficient communication in English; knowledge of German is a plus.

• Bonus: experience with NoSQL databases.

• Bonus: knowledge in CI/CD pipeline design, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation), and serverless architectures.

• Bonus: understanding of Domain-Driven Design.

• Bonus: experience in LLM-based application development, including RAG, tool/function calling, MCP servers, or agent orchestration.

• Bonus: familiarity with component libraries, design systems, and frontend performance optimization.
