Full Time Dual – Orthopedic Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures associated with the patient’s healthcare experience.

• Extract necessary information from medical records in accordance with client-specific guidelines.

• Request clarification from physicians on unclear or contradictory documentation.

• Apply established coding standards, software tools, and medical record expertise to assign diagnostic and procedural codes.

• Deliver coding and abstracting services for inpatient, outpatient, and clinic visits related to professional fee medical records.

• Engage in industry discussions and forums.

• Facilitate coding education within the team.

• Guide and mentor training coders and/or new employees through educational initiatives and training sessions.

• Stay updated on the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

• Maintain professional and effective communication.

• Enhance the company’s image through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification in CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA.

• Strong expertise in both Orthopedic Profee and Facility coding.

• Over 3 years of experience in coding both Profee and Facility orthopedic charts.

• Experience with coding Clinic E&M, Diagnosis, and CPTs.

• Profee and facility coding experience in Neurology.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.

• Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines.

• Familiarity with reimbursement systems and relevant federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies regarding documentation, coding, and billing.

• Must successfully complete a coding proficiency test.

• Preferred: 3 years of experience working with EPIC and 3M 360.
