Full Time Dual – Facility & Profee Orthopedic Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures related to the patient's healthcare encounter.

• Extract necessary information from medical records following client specifications.

• Request clarification from physicians on unclear or conflicting documentation in accordance with client guidelines.

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes after a comprehensive review of medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT-4.

• Deliver coding and abstracting services for inpatient, outpatient, and clinic visits concerning professional fee medical records.

• Engage in industry forums.

• Promote coding education within the team.

• Guide and mentor training coders and/or new employees through education and training sessions.

• Stay updated with the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

• Maintain effective and professional communication.

• Enhance the company’s reputation through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification as CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA.

• Proficient skills in both Orthopedic Profee and Facility coding.

• Over 3 years of experience coding both Profee and Facility orthopedic charts.

• Experience in coding Clinic E&M, Diagnosis, and CPTs.

• Profee and Facility Neurology coding experience.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.

• In-depth understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines, reimbursement systems, and federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies related to documentation, coding, and billing.

• Must successfully complete a coding proficiency test.

• Experience using EPIC with 3M 360 is preferred.
