Full-Stack Software Engineer IV – Claims

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical design of medium to large-scale projects, breaking them down into actionable tasks.

• Create and implement full-stack features from technical design to deployment, testing, and ongoing maintenance.

• Develop user interfaces that are responsive and accessible, along with backend services and APIs.

• Facilitate integrations with Azure Databricks, DevOps tools, and related data platform services.

• Produce well-tested, maintainable code and adhere to engineering standards through code reviews.

• Enhance the performance, reliability, scalability, and operability of owned systems, cloud infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational workflows.

• Provide mentorship to engineers, sharing expertise, and fostering the technical growth of the team.

• Work alongside product managers and designers to define requirements and deliver effective solutions.

• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to ensure models are quick, accessible, transparent, and secure.

• Establish the technical direction for systems and collaborate with product, design, data science, machine learning, and engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, specifically in building and operating production web applications.

• Strong expertise across the technology stack, including a modern front-end framework, preferably Angular, and a backend language such as Node.js or Python.

• Proven experience in leading projects, making architectural decisions, delivering on schedule, and mentoring engineers.

• Proficient in Python API design using FastAPI or Flask.

• Experience in designing APIs and working with relational, non-relational, and graph databases like Neo4j.

• Familiarity with configuring Azure Application Gateway and API management solutions such as Azure API Management or Kong Konnect.

• Experience in implementing and optimizing API applications for sub-second performance.

• Background in load testing REST API applications with Apache JMeter or SOAPUI.

• Experience with package and dependency management tools like Poetry and functional testing frameworks such as Pytest and PyLint.

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and infrastructure management, preferably with Azure and Terraform.

• Understanding of data engineering concepts, including Databricks, MLflow, and production data pipelines.

• Experience with cloud WAF configuration and API security policies such as OAuth2/OIDC and JWT.

• Background in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Git-based release workflows using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar tools.

• Familiarity with Agile delivery and DevOps methodologies.

• Commitment to testing, code quality, and continuous improvement.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Product Owners, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and AI Engineers.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a distributed, asynchronous team environment.

• Preferred skills include Docker, observability tools, performance profiling, incident response, TypeScript, GraphQL, or event-driven architecture.

• Must successfully pass a criminal background check and verification of employment, education, and licensing; all employees must be bondable.
