Full-Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of features from start to finish: determine the technical methodology, develop both frontend and backend components, and deploy to production.

• Design and uphold dependable, high-performance APIs, data models, and backend services.

• Create refined, accessible frontend experiences with a focus on UI/UX elements.

• Develop and incorporate AI-driven features, ranging from customized learning experiences to intelligent compliance tools, progressing from prototype to production.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and Copilot to enhance productivity and facilitate the team's adoption of effective AI solutions.

• Implement analytics and leverage data to inform product and engineering decisions.

• Work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to achieve crucial objectives.

• Detect and address performance issues, technical debt, and reliability challenges.

• Guide other engineers through code reviews, collaborative work, and architectural advice.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in developing customer-oriented web applications using Ruby on Rails.

• Extensive proficiency in React.

• Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs and managing relational databases.

• Comfort in owning projects from inception to deployment, including making architectural trade-offs.

• Proven history of elevating team standards through mentorship, code quality, or process enhancements.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, or cloud platforms; AWS is preferred.

• Knowledge of responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility.

• Experience with observability tools, such as logging, monitoring, and alerting.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Willingness to work during US timezone hours for team collaboration.

• Preferred experience in integrating LLMs or AI/ML services into production applications.

• Preferred experience with A/B testing, personalization, or data-driven content customization.

• Background in a startup or high-growth environment is preferred.

• Familiarity with compliance, security awareness, or ed-tech sectors is preferred.
