Full-Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop features for students, overseeing the entire process from the React front-end to the Node.js/TypeScript back-end, including initial scoping, production, and subsequent iterations.

• Take ownership of your work throughout design reviews, testing phases, ensuring release quality, and evaluating post-deployment results.

• Influence product development by collaborating with Product and Design teams to assess ideas, pinpoint trade-offs, and suggest improved solutions.

• Enhance testing, quality assurance, and release methodologies while ensuring both speed and quality are preserved.

• Contribute to the evolution of engineering practices and tools within the team.

• Work alongside a small, experienced team, engaging in open code reviews and making informed technical decisions.

• Make contributions across infrastructure, addressing data-related inquiries, and exploring other areas for impactful improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive production experience with React, Node.js, and TypeScript, demonstrating a history of successfully shipping and maintaining software that users interact with.

• Comprehensive full-stack capabilities: adept at transitioning between UI development, API architecture, and data modeling within the same week.

• Proven ability to define your own tasks, decompose ambiguous challenges, articulate a plan, and effectively execute it.

• Strong discernment regarding quality and trade-offs, understanding when thorough execution is essential and when timely delivery is more beneficial.

• Excellent communicator, capable of collaborating effectively with non-engineering stakeholders and articulating technical decisions to teams in Product, Design, and Marketing.

• Proficiency with contemporary AI-assisted development workflows as part of daily engineering activities.

• A passion for supporting students, honing your craft, and collaborating with your team.

• Must be based in the US and available to work as a full-time employee.

• Not mandatory, but a significant advantage: foundational knowledge in infrastructure and DevOps, including CI/CD, deployments, and monitoring.

• Not mandatory, but a significant advantage: experience with document and relational databases, particularly MongoDB and Postgres.
