French Canadian Linguist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct quality control tasks on designated projects or accounts (EN > FRCA)

• Execute on-demand translation, trans-creation, translation, and post-editing assignments (EN > FRCA)

• Handle translation-related administrative responsibilities

• Address project-related inquiries

• Prepare, manage, and uphold language resources, including glossaries, style guides, and work instructions

• Engage with clients regarding linguistic issues as necessary

• Develop and mentor both new and existing freelancers

• Ensure effective communication among team members and address terminology and language inquiries

• Contribute to the enhancement of working processes

• Meet objectives set by the French Canadian Lead

• Coordinate the activities of translators for assigned accounts or projects

• Ensure work complies with specified deadlines and quality benchmarks

• Confirm that the Language Process is adhered to by project/account teams

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Translation/Applied Languages or a comparable combination of education and experience

• Over 4 years of pertinent experience in the translation and localization sector

• Native-level fluency in French Canadian, both written and spoken

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken

• Experience as a translator in Mobile Apps, Search Engines, IT Consumer Products, Entertainment, Marketing, Software UI, or Websites is advantageous

• Strong understanding of both source and target languages

• Familiarity with terminology in IT consumer products, social media, and entertainment

• Comprehensive understanding of the localization process

• Proficient user of Windows, Office applications, and standard CAT tools

• Capacity to quickly learn new localization tools and applications

• Ability to effectively convey information and address questions from managers, clients, customers, and translators

• Capability to work under tight deadlines

• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities

• Willingness and aptitude to train others and share knowledge

• Ability to collaborate effectively in a virtual team
