Freelance Subtitling Linguist – Chinese-to-English

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Generate subtitle files by conforming, translating, or proofreading/QC assignments using Pixelogic and/or proprietary cloud-based subtitling software from clients.

• Utilize the in-house glossary tool and adhere to the specifications outlined in client style guides.

• Manage file rejections and implement necessary corrections.

• Stay updated on industry trends and adjust to changing client needs.

• Ensure the confidentiality of sensitive material.

• Build a professional and high-performing collaboration with Pixelogic’s language services department to facilitate end-to-end client projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in English.

• Advanced or native proficiency in Chinese.

• At least 2 years of professional experience in Chinese-to-English subtitling translation and/or proofreading/QC.

• Professional background in film, television, streaming, or other audiovisual content.

• Exceptional English writing skills, with a keen eye for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, tone, and natural phrasing.

• Capability to accurately comprehend and translate Chinese-language audiovisual content into fluent English subtitles.

• Competence in adhering to client-specific style guides and technical specifications.

• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage short turnaround times.

• Proficiency in using cloud-based subtitling tools and platforms.
