Freelance Senior Mobile Engineer – iOS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality native iOS applications.

• Lead discussions on technical design and contribute to architectural decisions.

• Write clean, testable, and reusable code adhering to engineering best practices.

• Optimize application performance, memory usage, launch times, and battery consumption.

• Ensure application stability by conducting unit tests, UI tests, and code reviews.

• Integrate RESTful APIs and collaborate with backend teams on API design.

• Work in partnership with Product, Design, Backend, QA, and Android teams.

• Mentor junior developers and assist in establishing engineering standards.

• Participate in Agile processes and practices for continuous delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in iOS development.

• Proven history of shipping and maintaining applications at scale on the App Store.

• Experience in owning features from the design phase through to production release.

• Strong proficiency in Swift programming language.

• Familiarity with Objective-C.

• Knowledge of Kotlin and concepts related to Android development.

• Understanding of the iOS SDK and core Apple frameworks.

• Awareness of app and scene lifecycle along with view controller lifecycle.

• Experience with background tasks and both push and local notifications.

• Familiarity with App Extensions, including widgets and share extensions.

• Proficient in SwiftUI and UIKit.

• Understanding of Swift Concurrency, including async/await, actors, and structured concurrency.

• Familiarity with Combine and the Observation framework.

• Knowledge of Grand Central Dispatch (GCD) and OperationQueue.

• Experience with navigation patterns, including NavigationStack and Coordinators.

• Understanding of dependency injection and Swift Package Manager.

• Experience with MVVM, MVI, or The Composable Architecture (TCA).

• Knowledge of Clean Architecture and modular architecture.

• Understanding of SOLID principles and separation of concerns.

• Experience in designing scalable mobile architectures and evaluating trade-offs.

• Familiarity with REST APIs, URLSession, and Codable.

• Knowledge of authentication flows, error handling, and network caching.

• Experience in optimizing UI rendering performance, preventing main thread hangs, managing launch times, and minimizing battery usage.

• Understanding of memory management, ARC, retain cycles, and leak detection.

• Experience in profiling and debugging with Instruments.

• Familiarity with unit testing using XCTest and Swift Testing.

• Experience with UI testing using XCUITest.

• Knowledge of snapshot and integration testing.

• Understanding of Test-Driven Development and mocking.

• Proficiency in using Git, pull request workflows, and conducting code reviews.

• Experience in CI-friendly development.

• Experience with App Store submission and release management.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
