This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Translate, write, research, edit, storyboard, and develop Mathematics and Science materials for both students and teachers in Edwin.
• Create app-ready content for Edwin utilizing an agile workflow.
• Address internal and external content needs, including new content development, licensing, and content repackaging.
• Communicate requirements, delegate tasks, and review the work of Nelson staff and freelancers as necessary.
• Leverage customer feedback and usage data to prioritize and strategize revisions and additions to the Edwin library.
• Collaborate with Content & Curriculum Leads and the Commercial team to maintain an editorial calendar for featured Edwin content.
• Oversee project-specific authoring templates, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistent, bias-free, inclusive, and engaging content experiences.
• Research, write, edit, and design text, audio, video, and interactive experiences for Edwin.
• Provide marketing with essential benefit statements for highlighted learning experiences as needed.
• Work alongside internal and external stakeholders to design engaging learning experiences.
• Create content outlines, plans, and release schedules for assigned learning objects, projects, collections, and modules.
• Author or supervise the authorship of content through to publication and launch in the app.
• Consider customer needs, teaching and learning challenges, curriculum, pedagogy, and classroom engagement when creating content.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, French, Linguistics, Translation, or a related field; or a comparable mix of education and professional experience in K–12 environments.
• In-depth understanding of K–12 pedagogy, curriculum, and instructional design.
• Proven experience in supporting French Immersion and Core French programs.
• High proficiency in both French and English.
• Capability to accurately and effectively translate and adapt educational content for student audiences.
• Experience in educational translation and localization.
• Familiarity with second-language acquisition principles and best practices in French Immersion instruction.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with educators, curriculum developers, and subject-matter experts.
• Proven track record in developing, adapting, and reviewing French Immersion learning resources aligned with Canadian curriculum outcomes.
• Excellent written communication skills, attention to detail, and editorial judgment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity for idea development.
• Experience in creating inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive educational materials supporting Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
• Extensive experience in authoring, editing, and creating content for web platforms, apps, videos, interactives, and/or games in the EdTech industry.
• Flexible technological mindset with a readiness to adapt to evolving software, AI, technologies, and skill demands.
• Experience working within provincial/territorial curriculum frameworks is advantageous.
• Proficiency in HTML is a bonus.
• Freelance work conducted on a work-for-hire basis.
• Invoicing for agreed-upon tasks and projects.
• Compensation varies based on experience and skill level.
