Fraud Investigator, Overnight Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Engage in communication with other financial institutions regarding potential fraudsters within both their customer base and Monzo’s customer base.

• Interact with CIFAS concerning potential fraudsters identified within Monzo’s customer base.

• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on criminal activities identified during investigations.

• Conduct investigations into unauthorized card fraud, unauthorized faster payment fraud, authorized card payment fraud, authorized faster payment fraud, and attempts of third-party account takeovers.

• Initiate outbound calls to assist in preventing customers from becoming victims of scams.

• Examine claims with a focus on empathy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Investigate and report fraudulent activities to other banking institutions.

• Manage and prioritize inbound communications from various institutions.

• Generate and implement indemnities and defunds as necessary.

• Seek further evidence as part of the investigative process.

• Make determinations on cases, either upholding or rejecting fraud claims.

• Recommend account closures when there are first-party concerns.

• Protect compromised accounts and take corrective actions.

• Provide advice and support to fraud victims on how to safeguard themselves in the future.

• Complete activities following investigations.

• Collect evidence from flagged transaction data.

• Make independent and collaborative decisions regarding the release or blocking of flagged transactions.

• Assess customer requests for limit increases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Prior experience in fraud detection, banking, financial services, or a related field.

• Capability to be persuasive while demonstrating empathy.

• Strong skills in investigation, problem-solving, and decision-making.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a larger team.

• Competence in meeting deadlines.

• A values-driven mindset that aligns with Monzo’s core values.

• Availability to work 37.5 hours per week on overnight shifts: 5pm–1:30am or 9pm–5:30am, Monday through Sunday, with a rotational weekend schedule of 1-in-3.

• Must be capable of making outbound calls.
