Fraud Investigator – Crypto

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into potential fraud or financial crimes involving cryptocurrency, including payment fraud, account takeover, and money laundering schemes related to crypto on/off-ramps.

• Develop and enhance capabilities for investigating crypto-specific fraud, incorporating on-chain tracing techniques, tools, and established processes.

• Educate the broader Fraud team about indicators and types of crypto fraud.

• Create strategies for the prevention and detection of fraud and financial crime associated with cryptocurrency.

• Collaborate with vendors to enhance tools and data for crypto investigations.

• Assist in broader fraud and financial crime investigations.

• Manage relevant escalations to law enforcement authorities.

• Provide expertise to enhance loss prevention strategies across Fraud, product, and payments.

• Report directly to the Head of Fraud.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in investigating fraud and/or financial crime, with a focus on cryptocurrency/blockchain.

• Background in an exchange, blockchain analytics company, bank crypto desk, or law enforcement crypto division.

• Proven experience in designing or refining investigation methodologies.

• Familiarity with cryptocurrency investigation tools such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, and Elliptic.

• Capability to establish a fraud investigation framework specifically for cryptocurrency.

• Expertise to serve as a subject matter authority and provide training to the broader Fraud team.

• Strong sense of ownership and the ability to operate effectively without a predefined playbook.

• Competence in collaborating across Fraud, product, and payments departments.
