Founding Staff Mobile Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Become a part of Nory’s Platform team as the inaugural dedicated Staff Mobile Engineer.

• Develop Nory’s restaurant-floor mobile application from the very beginning.

• Evaluate the current mobile app and design the architecture for a complete production overhaul.

• Strategize and launch a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) within one to two quarters.

• Evolve the restructured app into a platform that serves the broader engineering organization.

• Create dependable mobile experiences for areas with unstable connectivity and low-spec devices.

• Implement offline caching to handle unreliable network scenarios.

• Develop and oversee features such as push notifications, camera-based receipt and inventory scanning, and geolocation-verified clock-in.

• Advocate for product and UX decisions, especially when design resources are limited.

• Create a React Native design system along with modular building components.

• Structure the codebase to facilitate effective use by AI coding agents.

• Take responsibility for mobile code quality and delivery speed.

• Work in close collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams across Nory.

• Act as the primary external point of contact for a small platform team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with React Native, including production-level React Native applications in TypeScript.

• Capability to independently manage a mobile codebase from inception to completion.

• Experience in developing native-only features like push notifications, camera access, or geolocation.

• Proficient in reading and slightly extending FastAPI backend services.

• Comfortable working within React web codebases as required.

• Experience with applications that manage real usage and tens of thousands of actions daily.

• Understanding of API calls, webhooks, and performance optimization.

• Ability to make autonomous product and UX decisions.

• Experience in structuring codebases with a design system or shared component library.

• Experience utilizing AI agents while upholding high standards for design, detail, and craftsmanship.

• Proven track record of taking a greenfield app from concept to delivery or revamping a legacy app.

• Ability to articulate architecture, testing, and migration choices.

• Strong sense of ownership and independent problem-solving skills.

• Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Eligibility to work in the UK or EU without sponsorship.

• Located in the UK or EU.
