Founding Product Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate directly with the founders and founding engineer to develop the product, launch it in the market, and enhance it based on actual reader behavior.

• Take responsibility for the visual design and a significant portion of the user experience.

• Influence the overall experience from the initial screen a reader encounters to the moment they finish a chapter.

• Manage the reading experience, encompassing typography, layout, composition, streaming text, transitions, motion, and interaction specifics.

• Oversee the broader product aspects, including onboarding, story exploration, library management, character interactions, episode conclusions, and sharing functionalities.

• Transform initial concepts into interactive, testable prototypes.

• Leverage AI and contemporary prototyping tools for rapid exploration.

• Collaborate closely with the founding engineer to ensure that production quality aligns with design standards.

• Remain engaged throughout the implementation phase, testing the final product and fine-tuning details.

• Establish the visual language, interaction patterns, and design standards for future designers to follow.

• Bring forth ideas, justify design choices, challenge the founders when necessary, and make autonomous decisions.

• Work in close partnership with founders and engineers in a dynamic, feedback-oriented environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Outstanding visual and user experience sensibility.

• Proficient in typography, including hierarchy, spacing, line length, rhythm, and readability.

• A portfolio showcasing real consumer product projects that reflect exceptional visual and UX taste along with strong typography skills.

• Proven experience in designing and delivering consumer products from start to finish.

• Strong instincts for interaction and motion design.

• Natural capability to utilize AI for idea exploration and prototyping interactions.

• Proficiency in prototyping ideas and interactions effectively.

• Comfortable initiating projects from scratch without a detailed specification, existing design system, or competitor reference.

• Strong teamwork skills with engineers and a solid understanding of implementation limitations.

• Independent design judgment and decision-making skills.

• Genuine interest in consumer behavior and psychology.

• Preferred: At least four years of experience designing consumer products.

• Preferred: Experience in an early-stage company.

• Preferred: Involvement in taking at least one product from concept to launch.

• Familiarity with Figma, Claude Design, AI-assisted design, prototyping tools, or equivalent software.
