Founding Engineer, Flutter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and lead the frontend mobile architecture for our flagship products.

• Enhance real-time user experiences for millions of active users via high-throughput, low-latency Flutter applications.

• Create high-level mobile system architecture and patterns to ensure apps are stable, modular, and fast.

• Convert business objectives into technical blueprints and make informed system trade-off choices.

• Set engineering benchmarks for startup times, memory usage, and frame rates.

• Assess mobile technologies, frameworks, and tools to address complex scaling challenges.

• Plan and implement migration strategies, including native add-to-app integrations.

• Establish and uphold security standards, including certificate pinning, obfuscation, and anti-tampering mechanisms.

• Contribute directly to essential systems and core framework libraries through hands-on coding.

• Lead incident response efforts and conduct root-cause analyses for critical mobile production issues.

• Enhance app performance by diagnosing UI/raster jank, memory leaks, and CPU-intensive operations using Dart Isolates.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Heads of Streams, and Team Leads on technical roadmaps and product release timelines.

• Standardize CI/CD pipelines, fastlane release automation, and processes for app store submissions.

• Harmonize architectural patterns across various cross-functional streams.

• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and perform code reviews.

• Assist Team Leads with the development of technical Personal Development Plans.

• Foster an engineering culture through technical documentation, architecture reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in commercial software development.

• More than 3 years focused on Flutter/Dart.

• Practical experience with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin).

• A proven history as a Founding Engineer.

• Hands-on experience in designing and architecting large-scale, high-load Enterprise applications from the ground up.

• Strong background in technical leadership, guiding complex mobile products from development through to production deployment.

• Solid system design and architectural skills.

• In-depth understanding of Dart internals, including isolates, async programming, and null safety.

• Expertise in Flutter's rendering pipeline.

• Familiarity with state management techniques using Bloc or Riverpod.

• Experience with unit, widget, and integration testing.

• Knowledge of monorepos using Melos.

• Proficiency in managing high-frequency real-time data with WebSockets, long-lived connections, and protobuf/JSON serialization.

• Awareness of mobile security standards.

• Strong communication skills, effective across both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

• Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, technical roadmaps, and personal development strategies.

• A verifiable portfolio of complex, production-quality applications where the candidate held the role of Primary Architect or Tech Lead.

• Hands-on experience with native add-to-app Flutter integration approaches and incremental migrations.

• Experience in developing CMS-driven or Server-Driven UI frameworks.

• Familiarity with dynamic localization, feature toggles by market, deep linking at scale, and multi-jurisdictional app deployment.

• Practical experience in profiling mobile app performance using DevTools and the Impeller engine.

• Understanding of App Store and Google Play review criteria for gambling and betting applications.
