Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain the core infrastructure for pay-in and pay-out processes handling financial transactions globally.

• Create event-driven pipelines and workflows using Kafka, ensuring accuracy, order, and resilience at scale.

• Facilitate architecture discussions, establish and implement design patterns, and set standards within the pay-in and pay-out domain.

• Write clean, well-tested, high-performance Java code, and advocate for engineering best practices through code reviews.

• Utilize Cursor, Claude, and CodeRabbit in daily development; contribute to the evolution of skills and guardrails while applying Spec-Driven Development methodologies.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents with an emphasis on root-cause analysis and enduring solutions.

• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Finance stakeholders to convert business requirements into technical solutions.

• Share expertise, engage in internal tech discussions, and promote continuous improvement.

• Equip services with metrics, logs, and traces to enhance observability and deployment confidence.

• Report to the Nexus Engineering Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in Java backend development, with a successful history of delivering production systems at scale.

• Knowledge of event-driven architectural patterns, including event sourcing, CQRS, and sagas.

• Practical experience with operating Apache Kafka in high-throughput, real-money settings.

• Experience in designing and implementing distributed, fault-tolerant microservices that handle financial or similarly critical transactional data.

• Strong background with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, encompassing schema design, migrations, and query optimization.

• Familiar with cloud-native infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or similar.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proficient in written and spoken English communication.

• High level of autonomy and ownership.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Cursor, Claude, and CodeRabbit.

• Adaptable to a fast-paced, high-stakes fintech environment.

• Knowledge of payment rails, reconciliation, or idempotent transaction processing is a significant advantage.
