Founding Data Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete data stack, from ingesting raw source data into Snowflake to developing clean, reconciled, and business-ready models.

• Create and maintain pipelines to ensure access to complete and up-to-date source data.

• Conduct transformation, dimensional modeling, testing, and documentation utilizing a dbt-style staging → intermediate → marts method.

• Define and manage metric definitions along with a comprehensive data dictionary.

• Develop essential dashboards and reporting tools for the business.

• Oversee reporting for the board, warehouse facility, and regulatory bodies.

• Aim to establish a single source of truth along with governed self-service data.

• Collaborate with teams across Growth, Credit, Operations, Finance, and Treasury, including executives.

• Distill business inquiries into actionable insights and recommendations.

• Leverage AI and technology for routine tasks while ensuring output accuracy and exercising sound judgment.

• Set data standards from the ground up as the inaugural dedicated data hire.

• Potentially build and lead the future data team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data analysis, or business intelligence.

• Proven track record of managing a production data stack from start to finish.

• Experience with data pipelines that feed into a warehouse.

• Familiarity with a tested, documented, and version-controlled model layer.

• Strong discipline in data modeling.

• Excellent analysis skills, particularly in a business context.

• Capability to manage stakeholders and define metrics effectively.

• Proficiency in translating numerical data into strategic business decisions.

• Deliberate use of AI and thorough verification of outputs.

• Ability to communicate trade-offs clearly and effectively.

• Practical judgment regarding fit-for-stage solutions versus over-engineered approaches.

• Understanding of Git and testing fundamentals.

• Must possess Australian working rights.

• Specific certifications and industry backgrounds are not mandatory.
